Reeds, Apertures, Instruments & Improvisations The collaborations were an event themselves, improvisations involving duration, light and intuition that balance somewhere between chaos and order, where the camera is an intermediary recording machine capturing light waves and sound waves together. Photographs that look like paintings that suggest sound, a case of visual/aural synaesthesia perhaps? ‘The Dialectics of Duration’ by Bachelard and the early ’visible sound’ vibraphone experiments of Margaret Watts Hughes in 1891 informed my research and this remains an ongoing preoccupation that I intend to develop further. |
